After a quick art appreciation tour in Pambansang Museo, me and my friend went to Intramuros for a short walk. The two locations are walking distance so no need for hiring a cab.
Once you reached the gate, drivers will approach you offering tour using their padyak. It was not our original plan but due to extreme heat, we decided to take the offer of one manong driver. Eeeee! wrong move 😄 I can’t exactly remember how much his rate is for hour but we paid 700 for the entire trip (which we knew after the tour,so we were shocked galore). We actually felt tricked 😭 Manong was very nice when the tour started and ended up overcharging. Bottom line, if you feel that you can make it through bright sunlight then just walk. Just don’t forget to bring your water, towel, umbrella and camera for stop overs 😊 and yes there are lots of trees so just find shade if you are feeling hot. 😊
Inside the walled city felt like a trip back to Spanish era. Actually, manong driver was enthusiastic in telling us the stories behind every building and architecture we see. ( I guess the 700Php was for the talent fee 😁)
There’s a lot to see inside Intramuros including this graffiti art (not so historic I know). I’m not sure if there’s more of this in the other areas but as to what I have learned from Manong, the Government is trying to preserve the place.
If you are planning to visit Intramuros,I suggest to start around 2PM to avoid the scorching heat. In two hours time you are done ‘touring’ 🙂
I felt accomplished knowing that I have come to visit the defensive walls that was built to protect Filipinos from aggressors back in time.
